Looking for a Gigantic Rat? Visit our BODIES PAGE for one of the Largest Rats you will ever Find.

Materials Needed :

1 - small garbage can (use a plastic can to avoid shock)
1- Screen Door Closure
1 - washing machine hot/cold solenoid (if you look while you drive you will probably see someone throwing an old washing machine out, you can get the solenoid for free this way, it is the piece where the hoses connect)
1- 6 inch square piece of wood
1- Rat or any other Creature
10 feet of air line (for your compressor)
1 - air line adapter (for the bicycle pump)
1 - air line fitting (for you air compressor, available at Home Depot sku # 048643070509)

1 - remote control unit from Radio Shack (they run about $20.00 part number 61-2667)
1 - garden hose cap (found in ant garden store
1 - power cord
5 minute epoxy

It should cost about $60.00 to create . It's worth it, where else can you get a remote controlled prop for this price.

Step 1 - Remove the release valve from inside the screen door closure. This allows the air to go into the screen door closure as well as come out. Unscrew the fitting on the screen door closure ( Little screw in the back). Insert the air line adapter into the screen door closure and connect the airline, make sure you have the correct size air line adapter. (The screen door closure rod will return back into the can with the help of the spring inside the screen door closure)

Step 2 -Connect the other end of the air line to the washing machine solenoid output. Cap off the other output since we won't be using it.

Step 3 - Drill a hole large enough in the garbage can for the air line and the power plug to fit through.

Step 4 - Connect another piece of air line to the washing machine solenoid input and run it out the hole you just drilled. Connect the compressor fitting onto the end of the air line.

Step 5 - Connect a power line with plug to the washing machine solenoid, there should be 2 power connectors there. (This will connect to the remote control unit)

Step 6 - Plug in the power cord from the washing machine solenoid into the remote control unit and run the remote control power cord out of the hole in the garbage can (you will need a power cord to connect to the remote control unit to do this)

Step 7 - Screw the 6 inch square piece of wood on to the screen door closure rod using a machine bolt, lock washer and nut, the Rat will be glued on to the wood later.

Step 8-Use 5 minuet epoxy and glue the screen door closure inside the garbage can, or you can mount the screen door closure on a piece of wood using cable ties and then glue the wood down. After you are done with that mount the washing machine solenoid and the remote control unit ( Using 5 minuet epoxy ) inside the garbage can (refer to diagram 1 for the correct placement) DIAGRAM 1

Step 10 - Glue the Rat onto the piece of wood, trim the wood so you don't have any edges showing, then glue some old news paper to the side of the wood and inside the can so it looks like the Rat really lives in there, also the Rat hitting the paper will make a crumbling sound which adds to the effect. Just make sure you don't stop the screen door closure from moving back and forth.

Step 11 - Connect the airline to you compressor and plug in the remote control unit and your ready to Horrify your friends.

WARNING : When applying air pressure keep the pressure at 20-25 lbs. Maybe less. Make sure there is no one standing next to the air pump, the air pump might blow the top off if too much pressure is applied, Please Use Caution.
